Community Guidelines
_Last updated: 13 August 2026_
OKIAS Messenger is built for private, respectful, and lawful communication. These Community Guidelines explain what is and isn't acceptable across the Service — including private chats, groups, channels, status, and business features. They are part of our Terms of Service, and breaking them can lead to enforcement action.
We keep these rules short and clear on purpose. If you would be uncomfortable defending what you are about to send to a person you respect — or to a court — do not send it.
The principles
- Be lawful. Do not use OKIAS to commit crimes, or to plan, promote, fund, or facilitate them.
- Be respectful. No harassment, threats, incitement to violence, hate speech, or targeting people because of their religion, ethnicity, gender, disability, or other protected characteristics.
- Protect children. Never share, request, or promote content that sexually exploits or endangers children. This is an absolute rule with zero tolerance.
- Respect consent. Do not share non-consensual intimate imagery, or private information about others without their consent ("doxxing").
- No spam or scams. Do not send unsolicited bulk or automated messages, phishing, malware, deceptive schemes, or fraud.
- Don't attack the Service. Do not attempt to breach security, evade rate limits, or abuse the infrastructure or other users.
Zero-tolerance harms
Some conduct is never acceptable and will lead to immediate action, including termination and, where required by law, reporting to the relevant authorities:
- Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) and any sexualisation or exploitation of minors. We report CSAM to the appropriate authorities as required by law.
- Credible threats of violence or content that incites or coordinates serious harm to people.
- Terrorism and violent extremism, including promotion, funding, or coordination.
- Human trafficking and exploitation.
How encryption shapes enforcement
Private one-to-one and group messages are end-to-end encrypted. We cannot read their content and cannot proactively scan or moderate them. This is a deliberate privacy guarantee — it protects everyone.
Enforcement in private chats therefore relies on:
- User reports. When you report a message, a copy of the specific content you choose to submit is sent to us from your own device. You decide what we see.
- Lawful signals we can act on, such as account behaviour, spam patterns, and abuse reports — never by reading your other messages.
Channels (broadcast) are not end-to-end encrypted. Channel content may be reviewed and removed where it violates these Guidelines or the law.
Groups and channels
- Group admins are responsible for keeping their groups within these Guidelines. Set clear expectations and remove content and members that break the rules.
- Do not add people to groups to spam or harass them. Respect invite and privacy settings.
- Do not use channels to distribute illegal content, disinformation designed to cause harm, or prohibited material.
Business conduct
If you use business features:
- Represent your business honestly. Do not impersonate other businesses, brands, or people.
- Provide accurate KYC information. Verified badges are issued by our servers based on real checks and must never be misrepresented or implied when you do not hold them.
- Honour what customers pay for. Entitlements and paid-group access are decided by our servers; deliver what you promise, and do not use paid features to defraud customers.
- Follow consumer and advertising law, including truthful pricing and clear terms.
Reporting, blocking, and enforcement
- Block anyone to stop them contacting you. Blocking is immediate and does not notify the other person.
- Report abuse from within the app. Reports help us act on behaviour and, for the content you submit, on specific violations.
- Enforcement is proportionate to the harm. Depending on severity and history, we may warn, limit features, remove channel content, suspend, or permanently terminate accounts. Serious violations may be reported to authorities where required by law.
We aim to be fair and consistent, but we prioritise the safety of people — especially children — over the convenience of anyone who abuses the Service.
