Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") form a binding agreement between you and OKIAS Messenger ("OKIAS", "the Service", "we", "us") and govern your access to and use of OKIAS Messenger — including the Android app, OKIAS Web, and related services. By creating an account or using OKIAS, you agree to these Terms and to our Community Guidelines, which are incorporated by reference. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

OKIAS Messenger is currently offered as an invite-gated closed beta and may change substantially before general release.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old, and old enough under the laws of your country to form a binding contract and to consent to online services. During the closed beta, access is invite-gated: you need a valid invite code, a valid phone number, and — during the beta — a valid email address to receive your one-time sign-in code. You may not use OKIAS if you are barred from doing so under applicable law, including the laws of Pakistan.

2. Your account

  • You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
  • Keep your device, your sign-in method, and any registration PIN (two-step verification) secure. Do not share them.
  • Provide accurate registration information and keep it up to date.
  • Each account is tied to a unique phone number. Do not impersonate any person or business, and do not create accounts to evade suspensions or rate limits.
  • If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us and, where available, unlink affected devices and change your registration PIN.

3. Closed beta and changes to the Service

OKIAS Messenger is in active development. Features may be added, changed, delayed, limited, or removed at any time, and the Service may be unavailable or interrupted during the beta. Beta builds are distributed outside app stores during this phase, so your device may show standard warnings for apps installed outside the store; these warnings appear for any off-store app and do not indicate a defect. We may impose invite limits, rate limits, and feature flags, and we may reset or migrate beta data where necessary.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to use OKIAS Messenger, and not to permit anyone else to use it, to:

  • break the law or plan, promote, or facilitate illegal activity;
  • send spam, phishing, malware, or unsolicited bulk or automated messages;
  • harass, threaten, defame, stalk, or harm others, or infringe anyone's rights;
  • share content that sexually exploits or endangers children, or non-consensual intimate imagery;
  • attempt to breach, probe, or interfere with the security or integrity of the Service, other users, or our systems and networks;
  • reverse engineer, decompile, or circumvent security measures except to the extent this restriction is prohibited by applicable law;
  • circumvent invite gating, rate limits, entitlements, verification, or payment mechanisms;
  • scrape, harvest, or misuse other users' information.

Our Community Guidelines describe these expectations in more detail and are part of these Terms.

5. Content and encryption

You retain ownership of the content you create and send ("Your Content"). You are solely responsible for Your Content and for ensuring you have the rights to share it.

Because private one-to-one and group messages are end-to-end encrypted, we cannot read them and cannot moderate their content on our servers. You are responsible for what you send. If you report a message, only the content you choose to submit from your device is shared with us.

Channels (broadcast) are not end-to-end encrypted and may be reviewed and removed where they violate these Terms, the Community Guidelines, or the law.

You grant us the limited rights necessary to transmit, store (in encrypted or metadata form), and deliver Your Content solely to operate the Service. We claim no ownership of Your Content.

6. Business features, payments, and entitlements

Business verification, verified badges (Verified User, Verified Business, and Official tiers), paid groups, memberships, and payouts are decided by our servers, not by client apps. We may grant, verify, suspend, or revoke business status, badges, and entitlements based on our checks and these Terms.

  • Verification is backed by know-your-customer (KYC) checks. You must provide accurate information.
  • Access to paid groups and other entitlements always reflects what our servers determine was actually paid.
  • Payout availability, methods, timing, and limits may vary and are subject to third-party providers' terms and to applicable law. We are not responsible for the acts or omissions of third-party payment or payout providers.

7. Intellectual property

OKIAS, including the app, website, web app, "OKIAS" name and logos, design system, and original artwork, icons, and sounds, is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. These Terms do not grant you any right to use our branding except as necessary to use the Service as intended. We grant you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use OKIAS in accordance with these Terms.

8. Suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate your access, in whole or in part, if you violate these Terms or the Community Guidelines, if required by law, or to protect the Service, other users, or third parties. Where practical and lawful, we will aim to give notice. You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time; account deletion is subject to the grace period and quarantine described in our Privacy Policy.

9. Disclaimers

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available", especially during the beta, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or error-free, or that messages will always be delivered without delay.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, OKIAS and its affiliates, officers, and employees will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, revenue, goodwill, or business, arising out of or relating to your use of, or inability to use, the Service. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

11. Indemnity

To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless OKIAS from claims, liabilities, damages, and reasonable expenses arising from your misuse of the Service, Your Content, or your violation of these Terms or the rights of others.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles, unless mandatory local consumer-protection laws in your place of residence require otherwise.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as the product evolves. When we make material changes, we will update the "last updated" date and, where appropriate, provide additional notice. Your continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised Terms. If you do not agree, stop using the Service and delete your account.
